The Polimex Mostostal and Polimex Budownictwo Consortium signed a contract with Enea Elektrownia Połaniec for the construction of high storage umbrella roof No. 1

On 10 June 2025, a consortium involving Polimex Mostostal, Polimex Budownictwo and Financing & Manufacturing & Know-How sp. z o.o. signed a contract with Enea Elektrownia Połaniec for the construction of a modern high storage umbrella roof No. 1 (WWS-1).
The project includes the design, construction, commissioning and acceptance of a complete installation for the unloading, storage and feeding of biomass to power units 2-7. With an area of approximately 14,300 m² and an impressive volume of over 90,000 m³, the facility will be equipped with automated material handling systems increasing productivity, safety and environmental efficiency.
This is a key project matching the decarbonisation strategy and the development of renewable energy sources in the fuel structure of Połaniec Power Plant.
Contract signing date: 10/06/2025
The project implementation period covers 18 months from the contract signing date.
Net contract value: PLN 307.5 million, including the value attributable to the Polimex Mostostal Group: PLN 202.7 million net
Polimex Mostostal, as the consortium leader and the general contractor, is responsible for the comprehensive management of the investment project, which represents a significant step towards increasing the share of biomass in the energy mix of the power plant. The project confirms Polimex Mostostal Group's strong position in the energy sector and its active participation in the energy transformation process in Poland.
Together with the associated infrastructure, the construction of High Storage Umbrella Roof No. 1 is one of the important stages of Project 550 implementation at Enea Połaniec. The investment will enable the efficient storage and feeding of biomass to units 2-7, supporting their modernisation and adaptation to the requirements of the power market requirements in force after 2025.
Project 550 is an integral part of the wider transformation of Enea Group, in line with the 2035 Development Strategy. The installed RES capacity is expected to reach 2.1 GW by 2030 and 4.9 GW by 2035. During this period, the Group plans to spend nearly PLN 40 billion on investments in renewable energy sources and energy storage systems.
The development of the biomass infrastructure at the Połaniec Power Plant supports the achievement of these objectives, contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions, increasing operational flexibility and ensuring stable operation of the unit in the national electricity system beyond 2025. The project is being carried out in accordance with the approved schedule and environmental and formal requirements.
