Polimex-Mostostal successfully completed an energy contract worth PLN 500 million

Polimex-Mostostal SA has completed the construction of a modern heating unit in the Bielsko-Biala EC1 worth PLN 500 million gross for the Tauron group.

Polimex-Mostostal consistently, and in accordance with the plan, expands its activity in the construction industry - particularly in the energy, petrochemical and chemical sectors.

The company is already involved in major energy contracts in Poland - the expansion of the power plant in Kozienice and Opole.  

 

The Employer, Tauron Wytwarzanie SA, performed the final commissioning ​​of the facility on June 28. The contract of December 2009 amounted to PLN 499 834 000 gross (PLN 409 700 000 net).

 

The scope of work performed by Polimex-Mostostal included the comprehensive design and the turnkey execution of the block, including the delivery, installation, start-up and commissioning of the new heat and power unit with a fluid boiler, a back-pressure turbine with a capacity of 50 MW and thermal power around 106 MW, two peak boilers with a capacity of 76 MW and a heat battery with a capacity of 20,000 m3.

 

- We have completed the construction within the period specified in the contract and in accordance with the technical requirements. Despite the difficult, in terms of liquidity, period for the company, we have the potential to guarantee the execution of the most difficult tasks –Włodzimierz Dyrka, the Director of the Energy and Chemistry Sector of Polimex-Mostostal, said.

 

The new EC1unit in Bielsko-Biała will satisfy the basic and peak heating needs of Bielsko-Biala. The unit is designed for continuous operation during the heating season with a variable load, depending on the heating needs. The use of a heat accumulator will also enable the maximization of electricity production.

In the coming years, Polimex will perform some of the largest projects for conventional energy. For the ENEA group, together with Hitachi Power Europe, it will expand the plant in Kozienice (the value of the contract for Polimex-Mostostal equals PLN 2.17 billion net). The company also belongs to the consortium building the new power units in Opole for the PGE group (the value of the contract for Polimex-Mostostal equals PLN 4.07 billion net).

In Germany, in the GKM Mannheim power station, Polimex-Mostostal, using the forces of more than 500 employees, executes a power unit with a capacity of 910 MW for Alstom.
