Polimex-Mostostal SA has concluded a new contract for PLN 2 billion 196 million

Today, i.e. on 23 September 2010,  Polimex-Mostostal concluded a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad), Branch Office in Rzeszów, for the construction of the A-4 motorway section Rzeszów (the Rzeszów East junction) – Jarosław (the Wierzbna Junction).

The Contract will be realised by a consortium of companies comprising:

Polimex-Mostostal SA – Consortium leader

Doprastav a.s. – Bratislava – partner

Polimex-Mostostal participation in the consortium amounts to 51%.

The Contract net value is:

· PLN 1 billion 800 million;

The Contract gross value is:

·  PLN 2 billion 196 million.

The period of execution of the motorway section of the length of 41 kilometres will be 21 months of the date of commencement of the works.

The Contract for the construction of the A-4 motorway is the largest contract won to date, both in the history of infrastructural building engineering provided by the Company and in the history of the entire Polimex-Mostostal. The time for execution is very short – the motorway ought to be available by Euro 2012. At the same time, and that is worth mentioning, this is the last contract commenced on the A-4 motorway and its execution means its being completed from the border with Germany to the border with Ukraine. There is plenty of work ahead of us – the quantity  of aggregate material required to produce embankments, which is even quite difficult to imagine, is 9.5 million m³. There are 78 engineering objects to be constructed, including bridges, overpasses, culverts and passage ways for animals.

The infrastructural building engineering section of the Company executes material road and railway-related contracts. The Group has assured itself sufficient work for the years to come, and the income from this activity has been increasing successively to amount over PLN 1.5 billion per year now. At present, Polimex-Mostostal is already concurrently executing, among other things, sections of the A1, A2 and the A4 motorways as well as the S69 expressway. The Company places bids for the next large projects in that respect, informs Konrad Jaskóła, President of the Management Board of Polimex-Mostostal S.A.
