Polimex-Mostostal to erect Legia football stadium in Warsaw.

Today, that is on 12 November 2008, Polimex-Mostostal S.A. signed a contract for nearly 374,100 thousand zlotys net for the reconstruction of the Legia football stadium in Warsaw.

The subject matter of the contract is the reconstruction of the football stadium at ul. Łazienkowska 1/3 in Warsaw to the 'Elite' standard for 30,830 seats, meeting the requirements regarding UEFA and Champions League tournament games.

Polimex-Mostostal (Consortium leader) will execute the contract under a consortium with Baugesellschaft Walter Hellmich GmbH from Germany (Consortium Partner).

The basic part of the scope of works will be executed by Polimex-Mostostal.

The construction will be executed without breaking the football tournaments.

The execution date is 26 months from the date of signing of the Contract.

Value of the contract – 374,080,162.12 zlotys net.

Stands and rooms located underneath will be made of prefabricated reinforced concrete structure. The height of the stadium will be approx. 20.5 m.

All the seats will be covered. The covering made of fibreglass with teflon coating and partially of polycarbon plates will be erected at the height of approx. 29 m and will be based on spatial steel girders.

The stadium will be surrounded by a promenade. Along the promenade, there will be entrances to upper and lower stands, catering kiosks, toilets as well as medical emergency and police rooms.

The space under the eastern and southern stands has been appropriated to a car park for approx. 790 cars.

Under the western stand, there will be restaurant facilities, changing rooms for players and service, workout and revitalisation rooms, a press centre, a restaurant and the main drive for guests of honor.

Under the northern stand, there will be club and service facilities. 

The first execution stage will last 18 months and will cover, among others, the following works:

demolition of the northern, southern and eastern stands as well as auxiliary facilities,
production of the system,
execution and commissioning the new eastern, northern and southern stands including the covering,
execution of one training pitch.
During the second execution stage, lasting 8 months, works such as the following will be executed:

demolition of the western stand leaving the historic wall,
execution and commissioning the new western stand including the covering,
execution of another training pitch.
relocation of the main field by 1.5 m.
In the stadium construction, among others the following will be used:

approx. 30,000 cu. m of concrete in monolithic structures
approx. 20,000 cu. m of concrete in prefabricated elements
approx. 3,000 tons of reinforcing steel
approx. 2,500 tons of structural steel
covering membrane – 18,000 sq m
covering polycarbon – 4,200 sq m
Contract for the construction of the Legia Stadium confirms - following the good results achieved by the company in Q3 of this year and announced on 6th November, - a very good standing of Polimex-Mostostal and ability to execute complex investments within short times.
