Consortium of Polimex Infrastruktura and Polimex Mostostal is going to build the Witomin Ring Road

Today (20/01) a consortium of companies: Polimex Infrastruktura Sp. z o.o. – Polimex Mostostal S.A. has signed a contract with the City of Gdynia for the construction of the Witomin Ring Road.
The contract for the investment was signed at the Gdynia City Hall by Aleksandra Kosiorek, President of the city, Jacek Szuta, President of the Board of Directors of Polimex Infrastruktura Sp. z o.o., and Rafał Skrzypczak, Director of the Bidding and Technical Support Office of the company.
The agreement concerns an investment project located within the administrative borders of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the city of Gdynia.
The Witomin Ring Road is going to significantly improve traffic in this part of the city, relieving traffic at ul. Chwarznieńska, ul. Rolnicza and partially at ul. Kielecka.
The scope of the investment includes road works, i.e. construction of a two-lane ring road – the main route, modification of existing roads with the construction of intersections, an exit, pedestrian and bicycle paths, bicycle roads and pavements, a surface drainage system and road culverts.
As part of the contract, the Consortium will also carry out bridge works including, i.e. the construction of animal crossings and utility crossings, technological footbridges and a road viaduct. The additional works will include the construction of a rainwater drainage network, power network: road lighting power supply, road lighting, as well as the construction of a technological duct, TRISTAR network system equipment, reconstruction of the existing technical infrastructure: power lines, district heating network, water supply network, sanitary sewage network, gas network, telecommunications network and rainwater drainage system.
The contractor will also take care of greenery planting, safety barriers, traffic lights, horizontal and vertical signs.
The first works will start this spring and are scheduled to be completed within 20 months after the contract is signed.
The Witomino Ring Road means efficient communication from the western districts, transport utilizing Tricity Ring Road and, above all, respite for the Witomino district, which will no longer be a space for thousands of cars in traffic. The road will become a very important thoroughfare serving thousands of Gdynia residents.
Today we are signing the contract for the Witomin Ring Road. This is an investment for which Gdynia and its people have been waiting for a very long time. It will significantly change the quality of life for both the residents of Witomin and those further afield who pass through this space on a daily basis. In terms of figures and amounts, it is more than PLN 78 million, for 20 months of work and more than 2.5 kilometres of road - said Aleksandra Kosiorek, the President of Gdynia. - When the construction is completed, we also want to think of the forest area between the borders of the Witomino district and the Ring Road as a green space, retaining its function as a forest but with ordered access for residents. This construction is also connected with other investments, including the extension of ul. Chwarznieńska and the renovation of Witominin - this is a set of interconnected routes, and the Ring Road is the part which will give them their final shape.
This is a very important project for us, the second one we are implementing in Gdynia. We are glad that we have signed the contract, and we very much hope for the understanding and patience of the residents regarding the difficulties that will certainly arise at the beginning and at the end of the construction of the Ring Road, while less visible works will be carried out in the forest. We hope that in 22 months, we will meet here together in the same group and cut the ribbon - emphasised Jacek Szuta, President of the Board of Directors of Polimex Infrastruktura sp. z o.o.
The Witomin Ring Road will have its starting point in front of the bus terminus at ul. Sosnowa, in the forest section of ul. Chwarznieńska, while it is planned to end approx. 400 metres from the intersection of Witomińska and Kielecka streets.
The project will include a 2,585-metre long road with two lanes in both directions and bus lanes. Five engineering structures will also be built, including a pedestrian and cycle bridge running over a forest road, a technological footbridge, two animal crossings, as well as a viaduct over Witominska Street.
