The construction of the Power Unit is a strategic investment for Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe "Puławy" S.A., which will provide the Plants with self-sufficiency in the needs of technological heat and energy supply.
Next generation Power Unit, district heating and condensing, working on the basis of coal fuel will be built in Puławy and will meet the latest ecological requirements.
Contract for the construction concluded between Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe "Puławy" S.A. and a consortium of companies: Polimex Mostostal S.A., Polimex Energetyka Sp. zo .o. and SBB ENERGY S.A., in which Polimex Mostostal S.A. acts as a leader, includes comprehensive design, delivery, installation and commissioning of the heating and condensing Power Unit for coal fuel with an electrical capacity of approx. 90 MWe net and thermal power in a technological pair above 250 MWt including installations and auxiliary facilities, and is implemented in the formula of EPC (turnkey).
Polimex Mostostal will carry out the entire scope of work covered by the contract, which consists of:
- • development of a basic project, a replacement construction project and implementing projects,
- • complete construction works,
- • all deliveries of materials and equipment and their complete assembly,
- • connecting new systems to existing EC installations,
- • obtaining a decision to permit the use the Power Unit,
- • training the staff operating the Power Unit
- • performing maintenance work during the warranty period
On the side of SBB ENERGY S.A. will only carry out the start-up of the Power Unit
The main elements of the Power Unit are: turbogenerator, steam boiler with coal mills, carburization system, dedusting system, ashing system, de-cooling system, SCR and IOS systems, cooling water system with wet fan cooler, control system (DCS class).

Contract value - PLN 1,159.9 million, with PLN 1,148.3 million (99%) is the value of the works carried out by Polimex Mostostal S.A. and Polimex Energetyka Sp. z o.o.
